Summer Travels
Summer Travels...
I just got back from Texas, USA where they were celebrating this nations Independence with Fireworks and Barbecues. My cousin, Coach Bill and his track team there (Sy and Sean pictured) had me go running with them in a heat index of around 327 degrees. Thanks Guys! Also thanks to the folks at Taste Of Texas and my new friend Kevin for showing us some Southern culture while we were there.
So have you visited any strange and wonderful places lately?

Hmmm, strange and wonderful places...
Well, so far this summer I have been to Missouri - which I found out is also known as "the Cave State" and visited three of the thousands of caves they have there: Ozark, Merrimac, and Onondaga. Of the three I was most impressed with Onondaga which has huge rooms that entire football fields (yes plural) could fit into!
Also visited the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks region, saw the Popeye statue in Chester, Illinois and visited Metropolis, Illinois the "official" home of Superman and the Cahokia Mounds in Illinois -- the largest Native American earthworks ever built -- and many other natural and man made sights.
I hope to find more "strange and wonderful" places before the summer is over!
Dave
P.S. Of course, most anyplace can be "strange and wonderful" if you have the right attitude...

Would it be ok to post pictures of some of the wonderful sites of each of our own country/State to allow other people around the globe who have not had the opportunity to travel to various locations to view these amazing sites?

Hey Anonymous -
Absolutely!! We'd love to see pictures of the places you are from! What a great idea! Thanks.
I can attest to Matt's endorsement for Australia. Though I have not yet been to the outback, I'd love to go someday. Australia is truly full of magic! Watch out for that satelite!

Sounds like a question for my Webmaster. It's cool with me - as long as you don't live on a nude beach!
Thanks!! Can't wait to see it!

Well, let's see...
England: though I've been working there on and off for 5 years, it's still an amazing country.
Rome: walking in the footsteps of magnificent giants...too bad about the litter.
Belgium/Luxembourg/Germany/Austria: took Dad on his first trip since he left after WWII. Apart from beautiful countrysides, it was an emotional healing process for Dad.
That's it so far this year, but after visiting all those wonderful places, we're broke :)
Miss ya big guy,

Wow, Matt and Liia have traveled more than the luggage I lost on United! Are you guys thinking about auctioning off all those frequent flyer miles on ebay?

We just missed 2 hurricanes, we flew in with Dennis and out just before Emily...whew, what luck. Finaly got to swim with the Dolphins! It was amazing! Love you and I will call you this week, promise...kimberlilly
