Super Human Powers

With all the summer superhero movies out now, I often hear the fun hypothetical question; "If you could have any super power, which one would you choose?" I usually answer flying or super strength. But I'd like to rephrase the question:

"If you could have any super HUMAN power, what would you choose?"

It has to be a HUMAN power, like focus, or intensity, or compassion, or humility etc...

    Wow, fascinating question, Chris!

Well, if I could have super human powers, I would wish for three things - in that order:

    1) more self-dicipline - I don't think that needs explaining.

    2) a mathematical mind - I greatly admire those people who can explain the universe -or most of it anyway- with numbers.

3)more coolness - I used to be agonizingly shy as a child. Nobody who knows me today would believe that but there are still situations today where I would like to be more "cool".

I hope, you will also let us know which super human powers you would like to have, Chris.

    All the best,
    Ute

Hmmm. Good question. Since you've disabled my dream to spin webs or otherwise fly in this scenario, I think I'll go with these.

    1. Photoshop and Graphics God - Oh no wait, I've already accomplished that.

    2. Web Programmer Extraordinaire - No, no, I've accomplished that one too.

    3. Flash and Multimedia Master - Well, I've done that too.

    4. Really Humble Guy - I'm as humble as a monk already :-)

    5. A Great Dad - Finally, something worthy of superhuman effort that makes all the difference in the world. And this one doesn't even require me to fly... most of the time.

    Cheers all. ATP.

P.S. Wasn't someone looking to post vacation pics? We welcome your submittals. I mean, how am I to live vicariously through your pics if I don't get them?

Well, I think I might argue that super "strength" is indeed a "human" power, along with exceptional vision (not x-ray or heat of course), hearing, etc. But I think I get your gist Chris...

Anyway, I would have to say that the capacity to love is probably the greatest human power - and I think I would choose to love others better and more often. Not necessarily "romantic" love, but the kind of love that keeps you from lashing out at strangers in traffic and so forth. That "brotherly" type of love that seems to be all to rare these days.

Of course, super strength wouldn't be so bad either!

    Dave

P.S. Just got back from a trip to the Carolinas and Georgia and haven't really sorted through my pics yet and I am off to NYC this weekend - so I might have something when I get back!

@ Ute: Really? MORE self discipline? Hm, guess there's still things I don't know about you..We need to have a little chat this weekend. Oh, and take it from me; you are very cool!! *hugs Ute*

@ Webmaster: that # 5 is the greatest answer ever!

@ Dave: can't have too much love in the world..

Well, I'm pretty happy with how I am right now so I don't have much to wish for I guess. Maybe a bit of extra strength -not super strenght, just strength- would be nice. If only I could open up a jar all by myself every once in a while. Oh, and maybe a bit more interest in sports. Sometimes it seems I'm missing out on all the fun..the sad results of scoring an F in gym class (yes, you can actually fail gym class). I guess doggytraining doesn't count as 'doing sports', does it?! ;)

LOL - Jashenka, you crack me up!! Well you already have a great super human power - contentment!! I loved your "interest in sports" comment.

Dave, WOW. Great one!! Unconditional Love really tests so many of our human frailties. Patience, Acceptance, Surrender, Conviction, Endurance, and many more I'm sure. We are looking forward to your pics from your trip! Send some we can post! BTW, how is that writing sample coming??

And Ute, I want more coolness too! That is a good one! Have you seen the movie "Be Cool"? I believe John Travolta embodies the essence of Cool there. Icy.

1 - To be fearless - the thought of public speaking freaks me out.
2 - To have more confidence.
And stronger will power in certain area's.

Seeing as how my son picked out the George 2 movie this movie night, I thought to look up Christopher Showerman. Chris, I must say you are a good actor for a fun family movie. I do have to apologise because I am a few years behind in movies. I do like the Blogger question the webmaster posted... my answer would be to have super human peace. A sort of harmony in all relationships in my life, from school, work, friends, stangers I pass in the street and most of all to my family. But I believe that the only true peace can come from God.

Welcome Natira, Linds, and Chas! Thanks for all the great comments.

I thought every wish here was noble, worthy, and elegantly chosen.

So by the power of ALL THINGS POSSIBLE, you have all now been granted your wishes. You may not feel it at first, but you now have within you vast reserves of the human qualities that you asked for. Know that your strengths and potential far exceed anything you have ever experienced before. Your HUMAN powers eclipse anything you may have previously believed about yourself. Your dormant powers lie ready, willing, and waiting to be tapped.

Yup. It's true. Just ask the webmaster.

    ALL THINGS POSSIBLE!
    Chris

    Hey folks!

Hey Chris! It's been a while hey?!

Now there's a brilliant question. And my answer is simple: I want to be the best i can be if not better! When i've acomplished and faught and worked and never give up, to me i'll be super human! Not that i want to be pig headed or have an ego the size of Europe, I just want to be the best to my ability and push it further. To me, that is the number one super human power anyone can accomplish.
    Cheers, Matt from down-under

    P.S.
A super organisation ability wouldn't go astray either lol!

Ummm. In that case, I *wish* to tap into the hidden, super human power to magically generate a million dollars today. I'm closing my eyes. Come on Chris, I'm waiting. You said my wish was granted. Where is it? Ahhhh. THERE IT IS! I generated a million dollars through the hidden, super human ability to do so. But I did it... for someone else. Groan. :-) Smiles everyone. ATP
