Introducing Radio America...

Hey Guys!!

Thanks for your patience during our temporary Forum blackout! We're all pretty glad it's back up and running! Big thank-you to webmaster extraordinaire Kurt Ahrens and the good folks at Google.

As promised, here's a hint of things to come from my new project that we have been keeping hush-hush till now. This is what I have been working on for the past 2 years pretty full on:

RADIO AMERICA
A story about the magic of music.
How two farm boys found it,
lost it,
and what it took to get it back.

There are a few images and a synopsis online at the Radio America website: www.radioamericamovie.com
Stay tuned for a trailer.

You can also join our facebook community here:

Thanks so much for your support!!

All Things Possible,
Chris

I see I'm the last one to comment again. Well, the farmland, I'd guess of filmmaker memory, is slated to get a dumping of winter white stuff overnight. I've been missing our weather discussions from Chicago to downriver, so hope all's well on the path of the storm:). Take care, and as someone wise once said, "Take care of each other." ATB/Sue

Pretty quiet here...Tanya, look forward to more about the show. And Chris, more about yours! Hope to hear the spring news from everyone :)We are back from Florida. The Lion Safari was OK, but not as good as what we saw in CA I don't think. My husband's dad remembered it differently from years ago when they went. Glad we did, though, as one of the few places I could see flamingos. My favorite! Kind of a logo bird for me:) ATB/P/and all that JAZZ (that was for Ute):) Sue

Hey, ah gots me wun ah thim-thar "GOOGLE Accounts"(figgered it owt awl on mah own!), so's ah won't got to be "uh-nonnie-mouse" innymore! Unless the employers where I work(my only computer access) disapprove....but until then...Howdy everybody! There hasn't been any MOVIE critiques/recommendations for awhile, so I'll post one--I broke down and went to town to see one the other day, one I HAD to see, having read and loved the book by Edgar Rice Burroughs, amazingly written in 1912! So it is the hundreth anniversary of the character--"John Carter"! This is one of the major influences of space/super hero movies of more modern times--but none of them are better than this(especially for its time!) imaginative original! And did they ever do the original book justice! Basically the same characters and storylines--no mucking about with the story like so many attempts to bring a book to film do! This story probably was a century ahead of its time--only now, with modern special effects, could it be done right! And just a great adventure story, for which no one can top old ERB! My favorite characters in the book are the giant, multi-limbed, tusked green "Tharks", and the doglike "calot", named "Woma", and they couldn't have portrayed them better! Highly, highly recommended(if you like this sort of science fiction). Now, if ONLY some similar serious effort is FINALLY given to ERB's other famous character, also first written in 1912--Tarzan! They've YET to portray him as the author would have wished......

Neat project, Sue--I wouldn't be suprised if our zoo gets into this one day--we already have a massive compost area we use for the enormous landscaping job at this 500 acre-plus zoo, literally utilizing all our poopies! And since we have some big critters, like elephants and rhinos--we got a LOT of poopies! They also utilize the used cooking oil from the cafeterias to help fuel the tram/bus vehicles that transport visitors back-and-forth. Reminds me of the scooters that vaccumed dog poop up they used to have in cities in France that they called "Ca-ca Kawasakis"!! I wonder if they still have those.......Oh, and a correction on my last post--the doglike calot in "John Carter" is named WOOLA, not Woma! A Woma is a type of python from Australia! Since I took care of one in an Australian exhibit, I should be excused that this was in my subconscious!

Meant to write back sooner. Well, I made it before a new topic, so I'll add this:

Lane, I loved your ERB story. I interviewed a person a few years before I wrote about our forum host, who was a collector of All Things ERB. He even went to conventions they held about ERB. Wonder if they still have those. He gave be an old Tarzan paperback of the 1912 Tarzan of the Apes, that was printed in 1983. Of course I had to explain all this to the person playing GOTJ2. Obviously I felt there was a strong connection there! I always thought a cool story might be Tarzan time traveling, meeting GOTJ or something like that. We will have to go see the John Carter movie.
Thanks for the info about it.

Yes, I thought of you when I saw the article. Tell us again where your zoo is...perhaps it could be on one of our routes to Florida.

    Happy April 1 everyone!
    Sue

Yeah, Sue, I'm at the North Carolina Zoological Park, in midstate N. C.(Asheboro--not to be confused with Asheville, in the Western mountainous part of the state)--we could be right on yer way! Be SURE to stop by--but this zoo is HUGE--it WILL take you a whole day to go through! And I'll happily be your personal guide!....Speaking of ERB, I actually did an online interview for an ERB magazine awhile back you can read online--just Google my name(lane batot) and it'll pop up! You'll probably get a snort out of it(if you haven't already!)....Also, centennial celebrations are being held for BOTH of ERB's stories written in 1912, Tarzan AND John Carter. One of the bigger Tarzan ones is going to be in Tarzana CA. in August--there is a SLIGHT chance I MIGHT get to go! So I EXPECT to see and meet GOTJ there, of course!......
