Freddie the Leaf

Happy Fall!!

Although my favorite day of the week is TODAY and my favorite time is NOW, every season offers something special and exciting to enjoy.  I love my memories of Autumn when I was growing up in Michigan - the crisp air with that dry brittle smell,  diving into a pile of dry leaves, the explosion of color in the trees.

I just got some great pictures from my Mom of the autumn leaves this year in Michigan.  It's one of the many things I miss, living in the land of eternal perfect weather.  Check out these great shots!

It all reminds me of a really beautiful book that Mom shared with my brother and me years ago entitled "The Fall of Freddie the Leaf".  It is a beautiful allegory by Leo Buscaglia about life, death, and our reasons for being.

If you're intrigued, you can read the entire text here: http://achievebalance.com/spirit/theleaf.htmv (don't worry - the whole book is about 3 pages long!) or you can buy the book on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/The-Fall-Freddie-Leaf-Story/dp/0805010645

So enjoy today!

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!!

All Things Possible,
Chris

Wonderful pictures Chris of a beautiful time of year in the Great Lakes region, and elsewhere too - or so I hear. I had the pleasure of being in northern lower Michigan a couple weeks ago and the colors on the hills were spectacular. They're not too bad in my neck of the woods either, or at least they weren't until the recent wind and rain we've had brought many of them to the ground. But they look nice on the lawn, too. Though sooner or later I may have to rake them up...I think I'll make it later!

    Hi everyone...
Dave, it was beautiful like these pictures when you posted, now it's cool, rainy and really on to November. Of course, of course, before that, Jaschenka's Swirly Woosh Woosh (sp?) Halloween greetz. Ah, those were the days:). It doesn't seem possible that it feels like life was simpler then, does it? Even five years ago, but given the way 2012 has disappeared, I feel like we're all even busier than ever, and the days speed on by.

Thanks to your folks for the beautiful autumn images of our beautiful Michigan. It's hard to step outside without a camera in hand. Thanks for posting them, and for all the wishes. We can tell you miss back home, just a little bit:). I think our daughter does, as well, being way out there in your neck of the woods. Not sure when we will get there. CA seems as far away as the moon sometimes.

It would be wonderful if we could subscribe to the blog, so that we'd get notice of the new topics. I did happen to see it last weekend, though, and meant to post sooner.

Amazingly, I'd posted my blog, "October Skies surprise," about the same time as this autumn blog. It's about autumn a year later after my little ZuZu kitten experience. It's at thelivingstonpost.com. Now I need another one soon again.

So, Dave, do you follow the Tigers? Detroit to the World Series. Howe about that?! So, a blog subject for sure!

Hope you will update us on your play, and hope to hear October news from all the forum family:) -- ATB wishes and ATP dreams! Sue

Hi dear forum family. I can honestly say Autumn is my favorite time of year. We (my mom, my boyfriend, my doggy & me) just got back from a weeks trip to Germany, and what lovely autumn forests we saw!! Amazing colors, and back in the Netherlands all seems rather dim here now. Now, I have to put in some hard work to get a wedding gown finished in time, but I'm sure the memories of those pretty woods will linger.I also have a visit from Ute to look forward to, to celebrate a traditional -although this year belated- Halloweens/Samhain dinner. Have a great Autumn! Be Inspired and pixie hugs. :)

Although thanks to global warming(er summthin') our Autumns are about a month later than they used to be here in N. C., it is still MY FAVORITE time of year as well! Our leaf peak tends to be in November rather than October now, so I still have more Autumn to look forward to! So, whose celebrating(and as what?) our last pagan(kinda) holiday the 31st? I expect to see photos.....L.B.

Exactly Lane about the Automns. It's the same here and more or less all over the world! It's one of the effects of the Global Warming and Climate Change. Other ones are the extreme dangerous weather events like, for instance, the devastating extreme storm mainly on the East Coast of the United States this week. So be very careful and take care all there!

Luckily, I'm too far inland for "Hurricane Sandy" to be any serious threat--it is cold and blustery is all. Reminded me of my yearly Autumn dilemma--I can never decide which Autumn days are the most beautiful--the bright sunny sparkling Autumn days, or the darker, cloudy somber ones that contrast so vividly with the bright colored leaves? Kind of a metaphor there for people--it's easy being bright and sunny when everything around you is. Those special people(and animals!) whose personalities brighten even the most somber of surroundings with their positive, upbeat attitudes, are like the colored leaves glowing bright on a dark, watercolor Autumn day. I think we have some of those personalities on this blog....L.B.
