Motivation

Do you ever find yourself procrastinating? Just can't get motivated to do whatever it is that you need to do to get what you really want? I know I do!! Well, procrastination doesn't mean you're lazy - it means you are more MOTIVATED to do something else. If you look at it that way, you're behavior is ALWAYS motivated by something. It could be motivated by dread, or fear, or fatigue, OR HOPEFULLY Passion, Joy, and Excitement. Notice that when you're motivated by what you WANT you move in a productive direction, whereas when you are motivated by what you DON'T WANT you tend to stay inert in life, or move backwards.

So what is motivating you?

Gratitude!

We live in amazing times. Yes, we have created problems for ourselves that couldn't have been fathomed by our forfathers, but then again, the standard of living we all enjoy (based on the fact that you are reading this on a computer) far exceeds that of ancient Pharoes and Emperors. The tools we have, the talents we nurture, the time we've been given - it's overwhelming!

Here's a great exercize. Ask yourself:
What are you truly grateful for?
What are you looking forward to?
Who are you thankful for?
What are some of their best qualities?
TELL THEM!

There. Feel better?

So what are you grateful for today?

Failure?

Here's another great classic question: "What would you do if you knew that you could not fail?"

Great question but unfortunately it presupposes that failure is a bad thing. HUH? Really! We spend so much energy fearing this amorphous unknown entity called failure that it zaps our excitement that fuels the follow through on new ideas. Failure only has power over you if you choose to recognize it as a bad thing. For some failure could be embarrassment, or loss of money, or discouragement, or wasted time, or some other form of pain. I'm here to tell you that everything you think you know about failure is WRONG! Those elements listed above are some of the main ingredients (in massive quantities) of SUCCESS! Every successful person you know has a story that sounds like failure but they didn't let it stop them from moving forward. If you never quit you never fail.

For those of you who work out, you know the term "muscle failure" to be the goal of every set at the gym. When you work your muscles to "failure" (total fatigue) they rebuild stronger - which is the goal. Using this metaphor, failure is success. The more you fail, the stronger you become, the more confidence you gain, which broadens your scope of the possible, therefore the more you can achieve!

So, new question:

What would you do with your life
now knowing that,
if you don't quit,
failure is impossible?

Think about this one. It may shape the rest of your life.

Super Human Powers

With all the summer superhero movies out now, I often hear the fun hypothetical question; "If you could have any super power, which one would you choose?" I usually answer flying or super strength. But I'd like to rephrase the question:

"If you could have any super HUMAN power, what would you choose?"

It has to be a HUMAN power, like focus, or intensity, or compassion, or humility etc...
